Early Emerson 1510 brass blade brass cage antique electric fan
Here we have fresh from a local estate attic is all original rare ribbed base Emerson brass blade brass cage fan. Type 1510 and an early serial number 113744. Blades measure a total span of 12 across and have a cast iron hub. Motor sets in a yoke and can be tipped up or down by loosening the large brass wing nuts in the yoke. Blades are in very nice shape with no bends or kinks that I can see. Cage has separated at the bottom and will need some repairs as well as some straightning here and there which most all brass cages of this age need as they were not very sturdy right from the factory. Ceramic switch in the bottom is free of any breaks or cracks. Has overall paint wear and some surface rust mostly on the base area. Will definitely need rewiring as you can see in the picture the wire from the motor to the base is in bad shape. I can supply a new piece of old style wire to the new owner if they wish. These fans are fairly easy to rewire. I did connect it to power through the 2 speed switch and it does run on both speeds but may need some more cleaning to the internal start switch. Even has the original oiler cap in the back motor housing which is almost allways broken or missing altogether. I think it has been sitting in the attic for many many years and untouched because of the original wiring. It starts up best when you slide the switch all the way over to the high speed first then bring it back to the low speed. Just imagine this fan all restored WOW!! . Look at the pictures as they are part of the description. Thanks and good luck. The item “Early Emerson 1510 brass blade brass cage antique electric fan” is in sale since Saturday, December 05, 2015.
