For your consideration is a fabulous vintage Vornado pedestal fan. Manufactured in Witchita, Kansas, the fan exhibits Vornado’s famous fan design of the period with the terrific atomic age / jet engine motor housing design. While Vornado desk fans are relatively common, the vintage pedestal models are much less so and are a coveted decor items for mid-century homes and enthusiasts. The fan dates to the 1940s and 1950s. The fan was restored at some point in its life and is in excellent cosmetic condition. The paint is wonderful throughout with some scuffs and small scratches on the base. The jet-engine-like motor housing has some small indentations on the right side and top (shown in pics). The spun aluminum cowlick behind the motor housing is in terrific condition, which is rare for these fans these cowlicks are often found bent and broken. The cord is original to the fan (a nice long cord, by the way) and is in great shape. In the center of the cage is the cool Vornado script logo, and the motor tag indicates the the fan is model 121P. The fan is a three model (high / medium / low) and works well on high speed (starts right up easily), but does not work on medium or low (perhaps a wiring issue). The fan runs very smoothly — no shaking or vibration. The motor sits atop a telescoping pole that can be easily raised roughly 20 inches. The blades measure a diameter of 12. The steel yoke is 24 in width. When fully lowered, the fan is roughly 61 tall. When raised, the maximum height is approximately 81. The fan will convey a wonderful and stylish vintage look — would look terrific in a mid-century setting, or among vintage decor, and is ready to be displayed and used.
