Rare Working 1930’s 11 Oscillating Table Fan Super Blue Line Montgomery Ward
Rare WORKING 1930’s 11 Oscillating Table Fan with 4 Blades and tiltable head. “Super Blue Line” Fan made in the USA for Montgomery Ward & Co. Original wiring in good visual shape with no fraying or worn spots. It also has its original 72 inch power cord with a Bakelite “acorn” wall plug. The fan moves air really well, is quieter than you’d expect see video! And it’s in great working condition, though for regular use I recommend the new owner provide a good cleaning and parts maintenance to ensure all mechanics are well lubricated and free of dust and settled debris for continued enjoyment. Signal Electric Manufacturing Co. Not only the fan and front cage style, but the motor housing, parks and configuration of the osciillation mechanics, the base shape and bottom plate, the toggle switch and exposed wiring and power cable mirror the Signal 550 fan’s design. The fan’s front blade housing, or protective cage, measures 11 inches across and from base to top of cage measures approximately 13 inches. The bottom base is 6 inches across and from front to back the unit measures about 9 inches deep. It is heavy and I guestimate it weighs about 15 pounds. The fan runs at 60 Cy, at 110-115 volts using AC Current making it suitable to be powered by any standard US household electrical outlet. It’s super powerful and moves air extremely well with it’s oscillating head which is also adjustable to tilt in any up or down direction, making it suitable for any room, such as the kitchen, bedroom, home office/study, sunroom or enclosed porch. This fan is a true gem for collectors, enthusiasts or anyone who’s looking to create a retro Art Deco or 30’s era interior design vibe. It’s original green enamel finish has some rusting and scratches from use and long-term exposure to the elements, giving it an organic retro charm. Or, because the enamel finish’s blemishes appear primarily on the blades, a rehab/refinish project wou;d be super easy to complete.
