General Electric 8 Antique Fan. Up for your consideration is a beautiful oscillating General Electric fan. It has been fully restored and every detail has been addressed to match the original specifications. General Electric was well known for building high quality fans in the early 1900’s. This is the 42X528 model and has an 8 blade. The blades, cage, motor housing and base are constructed of steel. This fan has one speed and a brass on/off switch. This small fan stands 11 1/2 tall and swivels up, down, and left to right. Everything on this fan except the wiring is original. This fan was completely restored to meet the original factory specifications. Everything looks and functions just like it did when first manufactured. You can be assured, this is a professional restoration and you will not be disappointed. Made by: General Electric. MFG Date: July 1931. Volts: 105 – 120 volt. Color: General Electric Dark Green. The fan was fully disassembled, cleaned and all paint completely stripped to bare metal. The surface was primed, sealed and 5 coats of factory matched dark green enamel was applied. Once applied and cured, the paint was hand rubbed to create a brilliant factory like finish. All of the original brass hardware was cleaned and machine polished to a brilliant shine. All of the original steel hardware was cleaned and re-treated with black oxide just like it originally was back in the 1930’s. The motor was fully disassembled, cleaned, re-oiled and new antique style cloth covered wires installed. Everything functions just like it should. The oscillator gear box was cleaned and filled with fresh grease. A new 8 foot antique style cord and plug were installed that resemble the originals. Reproduction instructions and green felt were applied to the bottom of the fan that are an exact replica of the original. You rarely see this kind of detail applied to a restoration. New rubber wire grommets were installed on the base and motor housing. Once everything was fully assembled, the fan was tested for 4 hours to make sure everything was working properly. The motor runs quite, strong and smooth, the blades are true, and oscillates properly. This fan operates just like the day it was made. The final result is a stunning one of a kind functioning antique that will bring many years of enjoyment. This fan is the perfect size to display in your office, on a desk or on a shelf. Everything on this fan works as originally intended. No corners were cut during the refurbishment process. It was restored to match the original factory specifications and is a fine example of a professional restoration. This fan has lasted more than 70 years and now it is ready for another 70. It is important that you are satisfied and I do my very best to describe my products as accurately as possible. I personally refurbished this fan as well as many others. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me. The fan will be professionally packed and properly protected to insure safe arrival. Flat rate applies to US customers only. Additional rates apply to overseas buyers. The 16 brass blade on this fan may not be an original GE blade. Although similar in appearance, it may have originally belonged to a R & M fan. This is the blade that came with the fan therefore I was under the impression it was the original.
