PLEASE VIEW ALL THE PICTURES AS THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION! Up for your consideration is a fully restored Emerson 79646-au oscillating fan. The fan runs and oscillates perfectly on all three. Emerson fans were known for their exceptionally high quality, and this fan is no exception. The motor in the 79646 consists of a. Cast iron rotor riding on a hardened steel shaft, and to this day, it is considered one of the most durable motors in history. Constantly bathed in oil from an internal reservoir, and the leather seal between the blade hub and the rotor prevents oil leaks and makes. The motor dust proof, unlike modern fans which squeal and gum up with the slightest amount of dust. The restoration consisted of a complete cleaning internally and externally. The fan was sanded down to bare metal and coated with. A thick layer of primer to fill imperfections. The primer was then wet sanded to an extremely smooth finish and was coated with a layer of high gloss enamel, and the blades were finished with flat black. The lubrication system was thoroughly degreased and re-lubricated with 3in1 electric motor oil. The oscillator gears were in great condition and were repacked with grease. The headwire was replaced with period correct cloth covered wiring, and the switch was re-insulated with electrical insulating varnish. The original stator windings were left alone as they appeared to be in almost new condition. The cage was finished in a dull metallic silver paint, and the base was recovered with felt. The badge and motor tag retain their original paint and were clear coated for preservation. Thanks for your consideration!
