It is referred to as the Star Oscillator (paper label on bottom is dated 1-18-15 for 1915). The star oscillator gets its name from the star shaped nuts. One star over and one under the gear box and one in the rear of the neck. This fan has 3 star nuts. Condition on the low speed as well as the oscillator. Fan runs and oscillates very nice and quiet. It was working fine on all 3 speeds so not sure what happened there. The polished brass blades are virtually perfect with no dings or bends but it does still have the old patina on the blades and cage. I did some polishing, But you may want to do more. The brass cage is in outstanding condition with no breaks or bends as well. The cloth cord is on it and you may want to change that out. There is black electric tape around the knob that switches speeds. Cage measures 13.25″ across and 16.25″ tall from bottom to top. The blades are 12 apart. Good luck on this one. According to the cat no. This fan should have 4 blades instead of 6. You are welcome to replace with a 4 blade and sell this 6 blade and practically pay for your fan. I love to sleep by the sound of this old fan. The item “Rare 1915 Antique/Vintage GE 3 Star Oscillator 12 Fan-6 Brass Blades/Cage” is in sale since Thursday, July 07, 2016.
