For many years, we have been members of the Antique Fan Collectors Association. It runs and oscillates smoothly on all three speeds. The 29645 series of Fans were made from 1922 to 1925. Emerson made many Fans of this series in their 12 and 16 inch models, but apparently did not make as many of the 10 inch models. The first step of my Fan restorations, is to completely disassembled the Fan. The old finish is completely removed down to the bare metal. The brass blade wings are removed from the hub. The hub is then cleaned and checked for proper alignment of the fingers. After all of the painted parts are cleaned; they are then finished with two applications of a Super Wet Black powder coat baked on finish with a sanding between each of the applications. A powder coat finish is a very high quality tough and durable finish. The brass blade wings and other brass parts are buffed in a four step process and then, clear coated. The brass wings are re attached to the hub using solid brass rivets. I prefer to use the solid rivets rather than tubular rivets that were originally used since they are stronger. Please note in the photos that the back sides of the rivets have been rounded. The oscillator gear box was completely cleaned of old grease and packed with new synthetic gear grease. The motor and switch winding’s are checked for proper electrical resistance; then cleaned and sealed with electrical varnish. A new head wire from the motor to the switch is installed, in addition to a new cloth line cord and period style plug. As an added safety feature, a 1.5 amp fuse was placed in the electrical line. When the Fan was completed, the watt consumption was then checked. This Fan checked out at 45 watts on high, which is normal for this Fan. We will include instructions for their installation as well as a container of oil to be used to lubrication your Fan! Auctiva Free Image Hosting. Show off your items with Auctiva’s Listing Templates.
