This is not a restored vintage early 20th century’Robbins and Myers’ oscillating electric fan but an absolutely 100% original, untouched, unmolested, undoctored, not touched up or rewired, authentic, period Robbins & Myers early example of American industrial design. It is being offered in its original state,’as-found’ and ready to be rewired or resprayed to the new custodian’s discretion, t a ste a nd wishes. For example, the 4 brass blade fins have some surface oxidation. Some collectors prefer the piece to retain its original look, while others, along with the requisite electric a l rewiring and electrical tune-up, necessary for the fan to be put back into regular use, with a grounded cord and whatever else it may need electrically, m a y prefer the pedestal cast iron base and wire grill to be resprayed with black enamel p a int and the 4 brass fins to be resprayed with brass enamel p aint or to be cleaned with chemic a l brass polish. For this reason, we have at least until now, elected to just clean it thoroughly and offer it as it is, in’ a s-found,’ original condition. A great piece of e a rly A meric a n industri a l design. If the f a n doesn’t sell, we will then restore it a nd h a ve the entire electric a l as sembly revisited a nd brought up to d a te a nd up to code.
