Antique Emerson Junior (Jr.) Red Badge 9 Fan from 1927 Very Good condition
Very well running Emerson Junior — Parker dull brass painted 4-blade fan — from the days that fans were indeed made to last a lifetime. Though Emerson’s Junior line of fans, these fans – especially the early ones – were made with the same quality as the standard-line Emersons. They were simply more basic – lacking various speeds or adorned accoutrements. This fan runs quietly and smoothly and barely heats up; its motor staying warm to the touch with its obvious ease of operation. The wattage is minimal for this specimen as well: At 110V she runs at an amazing 39 watts, and at 120V at 46 watts. The sturdy cast-iron base and motor housing assures solidity. About the condition of this fan: I would mark the mechanical operation of this fan as VERY GOOD. The original headwire is sound and the cord has been replaced. It’s plug is original. The on/off switch operates perfectly. The fan was oiled last in 2010 and the oscillating mechanism was re-greased in 2010. The base felt has been replaced. The fan was last oiled in 2012. I have noticed that regular oiling keeps the mechanics quiet and smooth. I would mark the cosmetic condition of this fan as VERY GOOD+. It is in un-restored condition, but the original paint is extremely shiny and near-flawless on both the base and the motor. There are new rubber grommets for non-slippage on the base. The badge is gorgeous. The cage is near-perfect. The blades are in good operational condition, but have been repainted to match its original dull brass color — and since its painting there are a few spots on the blades from light use one summer a few years ago. There are also a few small creases in the Parket blades at the rivets, but it does not affect operation or its look. From even a short distance this fan looks darn new. This is an excellent specimen of a by-gone age. This fan is 88 years old and runs as if it came out of its wooden box yesterday. You can be assured of excellent and secure packing. Also, if you’re in the greater Chicagoland area, I’m happy to have you pick the fan up. Please look at my other auctions. Some fans are older and more remarkable; others are more common but possess some kind of aesthetic history that I thought was unique or interesting. You’ll find that all fans are operational, clean, and in good condition. If for some reason there is an issue with the item when it arrives, please contact me ASAP to address it.
