1935 Antique ART DECO Westinghouse Whirl-Aire Floor Fan (PU in West Connecticut)
I’m in NYC but the fan is in the Washington area of North West Connecticut on Lake Waramaug. Also please be aware that I’m only available in Connecticut on the weekends. This is a running 1935 Westinghouse Whirl-Aire Industrial fan with Micarta blades Micarta is a composite of linen or paper fabric in a thermosetting plastic, originally used in electrical and decorative applications. Micarta was developed by George Westinghouse at least as early as 1910 using phenolic resins invented by Dr. These resins were used to impregnate paper and cotton fabric which were cured under pressure and high temperature to produce laminates. I believe this is the first production year for this fan (1935). The base is cast iron with an art deco design. It is a very strong running fan in great shape and without problems. The height is 6′ tall. The cage measures 2′ in diameter and the base is 21 in diameter.
