For your consideration is this rare and highly desirable 16 Century desk fan (Model 265, Frame S3C-16). Manufactured in the 1920s, this heavy cast-iron unit is nearly a century old and built like a tank. Unlike common residential 9″ or 12″ models of the era, the 16 frame size was produced in much lower quantities for commercial spaces, making surviving, functional examples hard to come by. Model: Century Model 265 (oscillating, 16-inch frame). Blade & Guard: Original heavy brass blades and original signature Century “S-web” safety cage. Build: Cast-iron body and base with original stamped aluminum badge. Electrical: Classic 1920s split-phase motor with an internal centrifugal switch and base-mounted choke reactor speed control (no capacitors were used in this era). Speed 1 is the fastest and speeds 2 and 3 are the slower speeds. Wiring: Replaced with, updated wiring-ready to display and run. Condition & Operation: 100% Fully Functional: Runs smooth and quiet across speeds. The internal centrifugal switch and base choke reactor engage properly. At times you may need to manually move the brass blade to get the unit going. However, it works as is. The video demonstrates the operation condition. You’ll be hard pressed to find a unit 100+ years old that operates. I was not going to dissemble to fix this minor inconvenience. The important thing is this does work. Flaws: Extremely clean for its age with minor cosmetic wear. One brass blade wing has a tiny chip and a slight vintage crease. It balances and runs fine as-is, or could easily be dressed out by a collector. This will be packed for a rigid travel. Plenty of packing and materials will be used to secure the fan.
