General Electric GE 12 Brass Blade Antique Vintage Electric Fan Restored
General Electric 12 Antique Fan. BMY (Big Motor Yoke). Up for your consideration is a very unique and rare antique fan with brass blades and cage. This beautiful 3 speed General Electric fan has been fully restored and every detail has been addressed to match the original specifications. General Electric was well known for building high quality fans in the early 1900’s. This model is the 12 version also known as the Big Motor Yoke or BMY. It was used in a doctors office in Pennsylvania for over 40 years. Imagine the stories this fan could tell could if it could talk. I was quite fortunate to come across this rare piece of American History. This is one of the most sought after General Electric fans ever made. The blades and cage are constructed of solid brass and the main body is constructed of cast iron and steel. This fan has 3 distinct speeds that are controlled by a lever. The fan stands 19 tall and swivels up, down, and left to right. Everything on this fan except the wiring is original. This fan was completely restored to meet the original factory specifications. Everything looks and functions just like it did when first manufactured. You can be assured, this is a professional restoration and you will not be disappointed. Made in the USA. Made by: General Electric. Patent Date: June 25,1901. The fan was fully disassembled, cleaned and all paint completely stripped to bare metal. The surface was primed, sealed and 5 coats of professional black paint were applied. Once applied and cured, the paint was hand rubbed to create a brilliant factory like finish. All of the original brass hardware including the fan blades and cage were cleaned and machine polished to a brilliant shine. Please note that the fan blade will have several small imperfections as should be expected with any item that is this old. All of the original steel hardware was cleaned and re-treated with black oxide just like it originally was back in the 1900’s. The stator and speed control switch was fully disassembled, cleaned, resealed and new antique style cloth covered wires installed. Everything functions just like it should. The oil cups were cleaned, polished, and a new wicks and oil installed. A new 6 foot antique style cord and plug were installed that resemble the originals. Reproduction instructions were applied to the bottom of the fan that are an exact replica of the original. You rarely see this kind of detail applied to a restoration. New rubber feet and wire grommets were installed on the base. New speed control numbers were applied to the base. Once everything was fully assembled, the fan was tested for 4 hours to make sure everything was working properly. The motor runs quite, strong and smooth, the blades are true, and the 3 speeds all function properly. This fan operates just like the day it was made. The final result is a stunning one of a kind functioning antique that will bring many years of enjoyment. This fan is the perfect size to display in your office, on a desk or on a shelf. Everything on this fan works as originally intended. No corners were cut during the refurbishment process. It was restored to match the original factory specifications and is a fine example of a professional restoration. This fan has lasted more than 90 years and now it is ready for another 90. It is important that you are satisfied and I do my very best to describe my products as accurately as possible. I personally refurbished this fan as well as many others. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me. The fan will be professionally packed and properly protected to insure safe arrival. Flat rate applies to US customers only. Additional rates apply to overseas buyers. The 16 brass blade on this fan may not be an original GE blade. Although similar in appearance, it may have originally belonged to a R & M fan. This is the blade that came with the fan therefore I was under the impression it was the original.
