GE General Electric 2-STAR Brass Blades Antique Fan Restored LOOK
If you have ever been looking for a beautifully restored GE 2-Star Oscillator please check this one out! I just completed the restoration on this General Electric, 12 inch Loop Handle 3-speed, 2-Star oscillator fan Catalog # 75423. These GE Star Oscillators were first produced in 1918. This powerful fan runs and starts on all 3 speeds, is smooth, powerful and well balanced. Hours have been spent refinishing every detail of this fan. This fan has been totally disassembled with painted parts sandblasted clean, filed and sanded of any casting flaws or nicks. Any remaining blemishes and nicks filled, sanded, and primed with several coats of automotive 2-part, self-etching primer, sanded between coats. These parts were then painted with 2 coats of automotive acrylic enamel in Pullman Green (which was the original GE factory color) followed by 2 coats of automotive clear coat. Finally, rubbed out and polished as seen in the photos. Most brass parts, which include the oil reservoir, brass badge, oscillating knobs, and screws, have been highly polished and clear-coated to prevent discoloration. The brass blades are free of any bends and nicks and highly polished and are not currently clear coated. The nameplates on the base and side of the motor have been carefully detailed and background painted and over-coated with clear-coat for lasting brilliance. The switch contacts have all been cleaned and adjusted for smooth operation. New old style cloth wire has been installed from the stator head wire, soldered and heat-shrink insulated, to the switch and, old style twisted cloth wire from the base to the new old-style plug. The windings and switch-starting coil have been coated with liquid insulation for extended protection. The gearbox has been cleaned of all old hardened grease with new Lubriplate grease applied during re-assembly. The oil reservoir has new wicking installed and now filled with fresh oil for positive lubrication and the rear oil passage hole has been cleaned. The photo of the base underside shows a replica “Operation and Lubrication” label similar to the original one that came on the fan when it was manufactured. In addition, 6 durable rubber appliance pads have been added to replace the dried up and worn rubber washers to protect table and counter surfaces. This fan stands 17 ½ inches tall, is 9 inches front to back, has a 13 ½ inch cage with 12-inch diameter brass blades. Reassembly for this fan is actually quite easy and simple! Although I use high quality materials and best wiring practices, care and workmanship, I cannot be responsible for the safety or potential danger of these fans, especially guarding, which is inherent in their early designs. Thank you for reviewing my listing and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments about this fan.
