Micarta was developed by George Westinghouse at least as early as 1910 using phenolic resins invented by Dr. These resins were used to impregnate paper and cotton fabric which were cured under pressure and high temperature to produce laminates. The blades have since been painted red so if you want the original look, a paint thinner should be able to remove it. I believe this is the first production year for this fan (1935). The base is cast iron with an art deco design. It is a very strong running fan in great shape and without problems. The height is 6′ tall. The cage measures 2′ in diameter and the base is 21 in diameter. The fan is industrial strength so its not on the quiet side.
