An antique GE coin operated brass blade fan. This fan is working, plug in and turn on, it works and blows lots of air. The coin operation knob is missing. Coin storage cover door that would hold the coins has been removed, see photos for detail. It is as find still in original un-restore condition. Can’t check the coin operated mechanism work or not as The’Insert Nickel’ knob was missing. I assume the coin mechanism is bypassed somehow, Now It is operated by switch with one speed and it works. The fan is just under 18 1/2″ tall x 13″ in diameter x 8 1/4 deep and weighs 26 pounds. Built like a tank! The bottom part of the cage is slightly out of shape a little bit as shown; just a little, the fan blade moves freely anyway and plenty of room; no damage on fan blade as I can see, blade is straight like a arrow and have no crease; a little polish work will bring this fan back to life. It has some vibration when running but is mostly smooth and it blows plenty of air. The fan shows wear and use but is overall in very good used condition. A cool, hard to find fan. Manufactured by the Electric Fan Motors Company of Memphis Tenn. In early to mid 1900’s. This fan coin operational function is fully operational. Place a nickel in the slot, turn the knob and the fan runs for about 55-110 minutes. This is pretty rare as most you will find will not work as originally intended and will simply be hard wired to the on off switch. I will try to upload a link to play a video of the coin function in action. Brass Blades and hardware polished and clear coated. More extensive restoration details and historic information will be added shortly. The unit just came back from restoration and you will be the first owner. You agree to assemble and test by hand to make sure blades do not contact cage. (or you simply give the struts a slight bend). Antique GE Nickel Coin Operated Electric Hotel Taxi Fan – Brass Blades. This is a really nice and rare piece! We aren’t experts but from what we can tell, the identity plate and coin cover are missing, not sure about internally. It needs a good cleanup but when plugged in and turned on it worked great! On/Off switch works fine as well. The cord is a replacement. Notice in the last picture, you don’t see the blades? Because it was running and keeping me cool for the photo shoot!
