If you have been looking for a beautiful and finely detailed Whiz fan to begin or add to your collection, you may never fine one of higher quality and detail. This fan is finished in Pullman Green custom mixed to closely match the original GE color. This fan has been totally restored in every detail and is the model with the built-in on/off switch. These fans were produced beginning in 1924 and were one of the most popular GE models because they were very affordable compared to other larger models. This is a single speed model featuring an on/off switch with brass blades. It is very quiet and run very smooth with closely balanced blades. This fan has been totally disassembled and all originally painted parts sand blasted clean. These parts were then filed and sanded smooth prior to applying coats of epoxy 2-part automotive primer. Then, after wet sanding, two coats of 2-part automotive acrylic enamel were applied in Pullman Green. Then two coats of 2-part clear-coat were then applied over the green enamel for additional hardened protection and then rubbed out for a lasting shine. I think the photos show the true color and beauty fairly well. The old wiring has been replaced from head wire to line cord using old style cloth covered wire, soldered and heat shrunk to the stator which has been fully inspected and coated with liquid insulation where needed. Finally, a new antique style plug was installed onto the new cloth line cord. The switch contact surfaces have been cleaned and adjusted for positive action. New rubber grommets replace all of the old original ones. All of the brass components including screws, oil reservoirs, nameplate and badge have been finely polished with clear coating applied for added protection. The oil reservoirs have been cleaned with new wicking installed, adjusted and filled with fresh oil to provide positive shaft lubrication. New green felt has been tightly applied to the base to protect table or furniture surfaces. The brass blades measure 9-inches in diameter and the cage is 10 inches across. The base is 6 inches in diameter and the total height including the cage is approximately 12 inches. Although I use high quality materials, best wiring practices, care and workmanship, I cannot be responsible for the design and safety of these fans, especially guarding, which is inherent in their early designs. R estoration just completed on this beautiful Emerson Type 27646, 12 inch, 3-speed fan. Aside from replacing a few rusty steel screws with polished and clear-coated brass screws, this fan is correct to its period in most every way. According to records I could find, these fans were first introduced by Emerson in 1919 and were produced for 2 years before being super-ceded by the more common Emerson model type 29646. This fan is very powerful, starts up on any speed, and runs very smooth and quietly. As you can see in the photos, almost every detail catches your eye and the finish is almost like a mirror! All major fan components on this fan are made of cast iron for extreme longevity and durability. The beautiful brass-bladed fan still proudly exhibits the Parker Blade logo that was stamped into it over 80 years ago. The brass nameplate and badge are beautifully restored, with the dark backgrounds repainted and clear-coated to preserve the clarity. The wing nut adjusting screw enables up and down adjustment and the head swivels 90 degrees in sidewards direction to direct the airflow by pulling and setting the small brass knob on the oscillating collar below the motor. Many hours have been spent to bring out the beauty of this renowned and popular Emerson fan, which served as an only means of air conditioning back in those days! This fan has been totally disassembled with originally painted parts sandblasted clean, filed and sanded of any casting flaws or nicks. Any remaining blemishes and nicks filled, sanded, and primed with two-part, metal etching automotive primer, and finish sanded before top coating with two part Black automotive enamel (spray gun applied), then clear-coated for that added final touch of beauty and durability. Finally, rubbed out and polished to achieve that sparkling finish. All of the brass parts, which include the blades, badge, nameplate, acorn nuts and screws, have been highly polished and clear-coated. The blades were carefully polished to high luster with the center blade hub primed and repainted as when new. The switch contacts have all been cleaned and adjusted for smooth operation. New old style twisted cloth wire has been installed from the new plug to switch with new cloth covered 3-conductor wire going from the switch to the stator which was soldered and heat shrunk. The insulation on the windings, after careful inspection, was determined too be in excellent condition and did not require any further insulation. The oil passages, which lubricate the rotor, have been cleaned to enable positive lubrication by simply oiling through the rear oil cup. The gearbox has also been disassembled, purged and totally cleaned of all of the old grease, gears cleaned and aligned. Then the gearbox was packed with Lubriplate grease. Finally, green wool-blend felt, is tightly and evenly stretched on the base to prevent table or counter top surfaces from damage. This fan stands 18 inches tall, is 9 inches front to back. It has a 13-inch cage inch and has an 8-inch diameter base. Although I use the highest quality materials, best wiring practices and care, I cannot be responsible for the safety of these fans, which is inherent in their early design and open guarding.
