Original antique Century Brass Blade Electric Fan. The fan runs very well on all three speeds and the oscillator has not been tested. The makers tag on top of the motor reads in part CENTURY REG. ALTERNATING CURRENT FAN MANUFACTURED IN USA BY CENTURY ELECTRIC CO ST LOUIS MO FRAME S2 – 10 MODEL 55 VOLTS 110 CYCLES 60 NUMBER J-10″ PATENTED DECEMBER 29, 1914″. The fan measures app. 14.5 in overall height to the top of the cage, the cage itself measures app. 11″ in diameter, the blades are right at 10″ in diameter. The fan is also marked “CENTURY” on the BRASS tag on the front of the cage. The blades of the fan are brass while the cage is steel. The fan undoubtedly also needs a complete and thorough cleaning, tightening, rewiring, cage reshaping, and adjusting. The BLACK painted finish also has wear and scattered losses most notably to the sides and back of the motor housing. The head wire is tattered and has had some electrical tape put on years ago. The cord looks to be original with original bake lite cap. The cord end has a loose connection that happened when I unplugged during testing. This really needs new wiring to work properly and to be safe for use. The fan is very nice as it sits but it will have a great presence once properly restored. Weight is 14 pounds. The fan isnt currently working. The chord coming from it is too fragile and needs replaced. I tried to connect wires underneath and the motor hummed. Really nice vintage piece. This offering is for an original antique Century Brass Blade Electric Fan. The fan runs very well on all three speeds and the oscillator works fine. The makers tag on top of the motor reads in part CENTURY REG. ALTERNATING CURRENT FAN MANUFACTURED IN USA BY CENTURY ELECTRIC CO ST LOUIS MO FRAME S2 – 10 MODEL 55 VOLTS 110 CYCLES 60 NUMBER J-5″ PATENTED DECEMBER 29, 1914″. The fan measures app. 14.5 in overall height to the top of the cage, the cage itself measures app. 11″ in diameter, the blades are right at 10″ in diameter. The fan is also marked “CENTURY” on the BRASS tag on the front of the cage. The blades of the fan are brass while the cage is steel. The fan undoubtedly also needs a complete and thorough cleaning, tightening and adjusting. The BLACK painted finish also has wear and scattered losses most notably to the sides and back of the motor housing. The pot metal oscillator housing is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks, the oscillator runs well but does stutter one or twice on each sweep so it probably needs a proper greasing. The head wire is tattered and the cord has been replaced with what looks like an extension cord. The fan is very nice as it sits but it will have a great presence once properly restored. ANTIQUE CENTURY MODEL 55 ALTERNATING CURRENT FAN BRASS BLADE DESK FAN WORKS GREAT OSCILLATING. This antique Century Model 55 Alternating Current Fan oscillating fan is used and does have some minor wear. The fan works great and and rotates great as well. The wiring is in god shape and the fan blade is brass. The fan is 15 inches tall and fan guard from end to end is 11 inches in diameter. The fan blade size is 10 inches. The frame is an S2-10, 110 volts, 60 cycles, model 55, No. The patent date on the fan badge is December, 29, 1914. There is a brass plug (shown in photo #12) on the back of the fan that falls out if the oscillating switch is pushed past 1 quarter position to turn off the rotation.
