Fresh from an estate is an incredible example of art deco design in a vintage oscillating electric fan. Manufactured by Westinghouse in the 1930s, the fan is a scarce large example that features 16 diameter blades. The design screams art deco, with the geometric cage, angular base, and center cage medallion, and other accents. The fan would be an outstanding addition to an art deco or fan collection given its design and rarity. It has only been gently wiped clean, with several drops of lubricating oil applied to the oil port — it is ready for several more years of dependable service. This fan is ready to display and enjoy immediately! There is an oscillating knob (on the top of the motor housing), which engages/disengages the oscillating mechanism, so the fan can be operated stationary or oscillating. The fan is a three speed model (low, medium, high) and runs and oscillates smoothly on each distinct speed. The fan features a metal base and motor housing with micarta blades. The fan features it’s original paint, which is in a wonderful state of preservation, and should clean up very well. The cloth cord from the motor to the base is original and fraying. There is a spot on the cage that looks to have been welded (difficult to notice) and a cage wire that needs to be rewelded to the back ring (see pic). Please see the many pictures for a visual inspection of the fan. The fan has 16 diameter blades. The fan stands approximately 21.5″ high, is 17.5″ wide and 11 deep. The build quality of the fan is impressive heavy! And represents a bygone era of American manufacturing. This is a fan you can use and enjoy for years to come — a definite conversation starter! The fan is a wonderful small size (8 diameter bade) and is in outstanding vintage condition. It appears it was used very little and stored carefully. The fan is very unique in that the base/neck is made of bakelite. Also unique is the wonderful badge on the center of the cage with a red cardinal — it would make a wonderful and distinctive gift for a St. The fan blade and cage is made of steel, and the motor housing (save a steel metal band) and base are made of bakelite. The fan retains its original paint, which is in outstanding condition. The bakelite is also in excellent condition save for a hairline crack on the upper neck of the fan — please see the photo. The cord is newer replacement. Please view the pictures for a visual examination of the fan’s cosmetic condition. The fan was manufactured without a switch and is designed as a “plug-and-play” fan. The fan runs well and fast! The fan blades measure 8 in diameter. The fan’s height is approximately 10″, it is 9″ wide, and 6 deep. Fans provide a wonderful and stylish vintage look, and this fan is ready to be displayed and used. Well working Westinghouse fan. Appears to have original cord. From the desired Master-Aire line or Power-Aire line. In VERY GOOD condition, not brittle AT ALL. Fan with style number 868472 and serial code “GG” was manufactured in 1937. Model/Catalog Number: 12-F-3 (part of the Master-Aire or early Power-Aire lines). Serial Code “GG”:In Westinghouse’s dating system, “GG” specifically identifies the year 1937. This number refers to the specific production configuration of the fan, which typically features a 12-inch. (early plastic/resin) blade and a three-speed oscillating motor. Part of the desirable Art Deco-era Master-Aire or Power-Aire lines, which can command higher prices from collectors. Blade Material: This model famously features Micarta blades. While some collectors find them brittle, they are prized for their quiet operation and “Art Deco” aesthetic. If the blades are original and crack-free, they add significant value. Working Oscillation: Since this is a three-speed oscillating fan, the value stays on the higher end only if the oscillation mechanism still works smoothly without grinding. Antique Diehl 16 Chrome 6 Blade Electric Fan – has issues, see below. Runs strong, on High and Medium speeds. Low speed does not work. Oscillation does not work – stripped gear. One of the intermediate gears has been removed to prevent the gearbox from getting jammed up. The gear will be included. New grounded cord installed for better electrical safety. New green felt bottom installed to protect your table. Chrome finish has pitting and rust. Fan cage is slightly bent – please see photos. Dirt and dust is present. Blade diameter – 16 inch. GE marketed this fan under the “quiet blade” brand beginning in the late 1930s, as it introduced a new and innovative overlapping blade design. The fan features a shiny polished blade and black motor/base, creating a striking and impressive look. The fan is ready to be displayed and used and is a guaranteed conversation starter! According to the motor tag, the CAT # is 49X491, Form AS 1, and Number is V 127698. The fan features 12 diameter blades, chromed accents (screws, oiler, and oscillating screw), and black paint. The build quality of the fan is incredible and harkens back to a time where U. Was a world leader in manufacturing. The fan is in excellent original cosmetic condition and retains much of its original black paint, with some paint loss throughout. This antique Emerson Junior desk fan has been tested and works great. The fan powers on easily and runs smoothly. The motor sounds strong with no unusual noises. Please note: the tilt adjustment mechanism appears to be missing one side, so the fan head cannot currently be tilted up or down and remains fixed in position. This does not affect operation. Tested and fully operational. Original Emerson Junior badge present. Original cage, blades, base, and cord. Nice aged patina consistent with age. Tilt adjustment incomplete (see photos).
