Antique Emerson Seagull electric fan. I plugged it in and it does seem to work well but I would recommend having it professionally rewired. Antique Robbins & Myers Ceiling Fan. Complete with free spinning motor, blades, blade brackets, and double Canopy all in nice shape. Model 0714-5B, could not find much info on but I believe it to be from the 1920’s era around 100 years old. Pulled from a working environment, motor spins freely and built like a tank at 65 pounds. Just for a reference the cast iron Hunter Originals from the 1960 to 2000 era weigh only 35 pounds are built like a Chevy Nova comparatively speaking. Along with that heavier weight comes more CFM, about 50% more than the high output Hunter Originals. Two videos below show all the parts and the motor running smooth and quiet. FREE SPINS FOR OVER 3 1/2 MUNITES WHEN UNPLUGGED. I have worked with antique fans for over 10 years, NEVER have I seen a free spin for over 2 minutes! The finish on the fan & blades are good enough that NO REFINISHING REQUIRED, yes you could repaint it black but I think when they look this good you should leave it original, JUST ADD OIL AND GO. Will be professionally packed to withstand 4 foot drops on any side all day long. Hunter mentioned in the title as Robbins & Myers Bought out Hunter, then Hunter later bought it back. Shaded Pole motor design will NOT work with any remote controls on the market today, except the one we make. ADVANTAGES OF SP SHADED-POLE VS THE PSC Permanent Split Capacitor. SP has far more torque than PSC. SP is more reliable than PSC, since capacitors blow out from time to time. We have SP fans still running after 100 years, whereas the PSC have only been out 35 years, so it is not as time tested as the SP motor. The Capacitor is so hard to replace, most of the time they simply trash the whole fan. Hunter used SP fan motors for over 60 years, from the 1906 Tuerk all the way thru the the 1960’s. In the 1970’s they changed from the SP to a 2 speed winding motor without speed coil or a capacitor. In the 1980’s they went to the PSC design. In 2000 the outsourced the fans to China.
