I don’t think you’ll find a better, broader or more balanced assortment of technical antiques anywhere — hundreds of listings each year, almost all of them featuring eye-popping “gee whiz” gadgetry in exceptional original condition. Here’s a small, uncommon cast metal model of an Edison Bi-Polar Dynamo that was manufactured by New England Edison in 1911 — in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the Edison Electric Illuminating Company of Boston. Although it has a hanger loop on top, the model was likely designed to be used as a paperweight. It weighs a bit less than a pound and is cast in what appears to be pot metal (or possibly lead — it is clearly not iron, as it has no properties of magnetic attraction). Condition is good, as you can see in the photographs, particularly for a souvenir. Measures approximately 4″ long x 3″ high x 2 wide. Barn-Find, but when your “bargain” arrives broken, and without any hint of how you might be able to put it back together, you’ll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.

An EXTRA EARLY OPEN FRAME BIPOLAR MOTOR ELECTRIC FAN by the Ziegler Electric Company, Boston, Massachusetts. This fan, which is missing its original brass blade, is mounted on a rotating cast iron stand that retains nearly all of its original black japan finish and gold highlighting. The Ziegler Electric Company produced scientific demonstration apparatus in the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth Century. The motor and stand are in superb condition and absent any chips, cracks or other apologies. Length = 11.00 Inches Ref.
