Here’s a beautiful, working, and very uncommon Western Electric 1/12 HP bipolar DC utility motor that dates to the 1890’s. As you can see in the pictures and the video, the motor’s cosmetic condition is excellent, and it runs smoothly and quietly. The motor has been disassembled, cleaned and lubricated, and it is suitable for safe operation. It’s the same rectifier that you see in the photos and in the video. Because this is a DC motor, it cannot be used with 120V household AC unless you are using this (or some other) AC to DC rectifier as an intermediary. If you attempt to run the motor with straight AC from your wall outlet, without using a rectifier, you risk irreparably damaging the windings — and more… The motor is approximately 8″ high by 8 1/2″ wide and weighs approximately 16 lb. Barn-Find, but when your “bargain” arrives broken, and without any hint of how you might be able to put it back together, you’ll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.

Very nice all original condition Sprague Lundel motor. This motor has been tested and it does work. Still some original faint pinstriping lines are visible. This would be a great motor if you needed something for a popcorn maker or any other early item that needs an electric power source. Has a great look to it and not that expensive. Early and rare 1880’s fan by Electro-Dynamic Co. This fan been named the “First Electric Fan” to be offered at retail. Utilizing a motor designed for the dental industry, this is the most basic form of a fan and a cornerstone for any fan/motor collection. An original condition motor has been combined with newer production blade replicating the original design as well as the stand, wood base, and switch. Motor operates perfectly on 10 V DC.

Early Bipolar motor in the manner of Belding. Mounted atop its original wooden base, this motor appears untouched since new. Base displays some signs of damage/separation and could be easily repaired. Ornate details still adorn the motors end panels. For your consideration is this antique early Carlisle & Finch hand crank bipolar motor/dynamo. This motor is from my private collection and is in presentable original condition. The motor was tested when I acquired it and did run on low voltage DC. I forgot what voltage but it was around 10-20 volts. The motor is sadly missing the large pulley with crank that would have been on the spindle up above. The commutator appears to have electrical tape around the edge. I did not put this there and was like that when I acquired this motor. There is no severe damage to this piece aside from normal wear from a piece of this age. It will obviously need servicing if you plan to run it as I only ever had it for display purposes in my collection. Could be used to mock up an early fan, left as is, or put back together by sourcing the pulley/crank. A nice original early motor that would be perfect for any fan or early electrical collection.
