Antique Emerson Electric 52 Ceiling Fan Motor 34641 Oil Bath 1915 U. This fan style was originally part of the non ornamental “Trojan” line that began around 1904. When Emerson ended the Trojan line sometime around circa 1912-13, the Trojan ceiling fan was marketed with only. “Emerson” on the motor tag. Of note is the ceiling fan motor styling is very similar to that of the Trojan “Pancake” desk fan models (Types 5110, 5210), only turned horizontal for ceiling fan use. The WESCO Supply Catalog NO. 150 circa 1910, stated these “Ceiling fans furnish the maximum breeze in proportion to first cost and are well suited for saloons, restaurants, and places where speed regulation, decorative design, or finish are not of great importance”. It’s always amazing that many of these machines still run over 100 years later, a testament to the honest engineering incorporated in their design. Preowned unrestored aged condition, including original paint, oxidation, soiling, missing switchplate, switch/cover see images. Original 1913-17 circa Type 34641 52 Ceiling Fan Motor 110V 60 Cycles (see motor & tag images). We were told this fan motor was removed from an old local neighborhood grocery in Houston, Texas years ago. Just tested for listing see video, (bypassed burned out speed coil), ran smoothly on work bench, though needing full restoration work before installing for use.
