This vintage General Electric fan was manufactured in 1930. The type is AOU and the Form is AK1. The fan is black instead of the Pullman Green other AOU’s had; and, it was the first model to have black painted aluminum blades instead of brass. There are no dents in any housing parts and the wire cage is free from bends and damage. The blades are well balanced and don’t have any pits or bends. The cord and motor-control wiring is good. The contacts on the slider control probably have a little corrosion that needs to be sanded off as the L-M-H speeds need a little wiggling from the selector lever to settle the connection. The motor is quiet, runs smoothly, and no warbling. All in all, at nearly 100 years old, this fan functions nearly as well as it did when it left the factory. Measurements: Wire Case, side to side is 17.5″; Fan Blades, side to side are 16″; Base to Top of Cage is 20″; Diameter of Base is approximately 7″; and, the approximate depth is 9.
