Rare old General Electric “Whiz” fan. Re-wired with in-line rocker switch to turn on and off. Brass blades with stamped steel housing and a cast iron base. Good condition for age. The windings inside appear to be in excellent condition when I opened the fan up to inspect. I suspect this fan saw limited use. The cage is a bit banged out, and the paint job I gave it admittedly isn’t the best. The green paint is original, and I left it alone as I quite liked the aged look. The brass blade has a couple of dings and a little wrinkle. The fan runs well, but being a shaded pole design, it does run pretty hot. It’s a bit loud as well, although that may be an issue with the blade balance. Regardless it moves a lot of air. Any questions, feel free to ask! General Electric Whiz oscillating fan with brass blades. This is a nine inch fan in beautiful operating condition. The fan has the original electric cord and felt on the bottom. Everything works properly and smoothly. It has a lovely patina and very little rust. One of the two rubber sleeves/grommets and one of three screws attaching the cage has been replaced. There is a small, but noticeable chip on one blade tip and series of smaller dings on the following two blades. The identifying numbers can be viewed on one of photos attached. This is the 9″ version with brass blades (fan blades are 9″ across, the cage measures approx 9.5-10). Everything is in completely original, unrestored condition. Even the cord and felt bottom are perfectly intact! Minor blemishes to paint as expected in a fan this age, but is for the most part still very glossy and vivid. The only thing missing is one small rubber grommet at the base of the fan where the cord exits (pictured), the other rubber grommet is still there though and not even cracking! It is very rare to find a fan in this nice of original condition. Keep in mind this fan is over 90 years old! It still runs beautifully and is dead silent when running.
