SUPER Rare 1910 EMERSON 11644 BRASS BLADE Fan CAST IRON Base w/MODEL 1500 GUARD. Manufactured by the EMERSON ELECTRIC MFG CO in St. Louis, Missouri in the year 1910. I was sure at the time it was a most definate diamond in the rough , and a little research confirmed just how rare this one really is. Its considered a MUST have HOLY GRAIL type fan among the serious early Emerson collectors. Nothing has been done to it other than a little wiping down with an oily rag to get some of the dust and grime off and to see the model number plate. Its still needs a good overall cleaning and a professional restoration to polish up all the brass and make it absolutely EYE-POPPING!! Brass badge says EMERSON THE EMERSON ELECTRIC MFG CO, TYPE NO 11644, WATTS 21, VOLTS 104, CYCLES 60. The serial number is 158192 which looks to be towards the end of this models production. Research indicates that there were only 500 of these models made in 1910 that have the Model 1500 badge and cage on a Model 11644 motor and base. Note this heavy cast iron base has the OFF/ON switch notations CAST/STAMPED into the base instead of the painted on label as found on the model 1500. The original black bakelite insulators where the mains power cord connection goes are both in good condition, missing the bottom switch cover insulator. Orcelain switch/terminal block is in fine condition and so is the switch lever tab. The eight inch blades and the nine inch cage are all made of brass. Blades have heavy patina, maybe a small ding or two but no serious damage. Cage is somewhat misshapen and needs to be straightened up and some re-soldering done. One brass bolt head is missing on the fan cage bracket. The fluted base, yoke, and motor case are all cast iron and show no breaks or repairs. All the hardware appears to be original. The rubber feet have long since deteriorated and are missing now. Some black original paint still present on the base. The overall height is 11-1/2 inches tall, cage diameter is about 8-3/4 inches, original single speed lever type on/off switch located on the swivel trunnion ribbed design cast iron base. So, right now its in untouched totally unrestored all original as-found condition. Unit had no cord but I connected it up to a modern cord just to check its operation and amazingly it WORKS with a slight hand spin to the blades!! Needs to find a good home and someone that can/will complete this restoration – it will be a beautiful fan when refinished and restored and a quite rare model too. This would be a fantastic candidate for restoration and will be stunning investment piece when complete – its a TRUE unrestored DIAMOND in the ROUGH barn find – Check it out below!!
