Fresh from an estate is an incredible example of art deco design in a vintage oscillating electric fan. Manufactured by Westinghouse in the 1930s, the fan is a scarce large example that features 16 diameter blades. The design screams art deco, with the geometric cage, angular base, and center cage medallion, and other accents. The fan would be an outstanding addition to an art deco or fan collection given its design and rarity. It has only been gently wiped clean, with several drops of lubricating oil applied to the oil port — it is ready for several more years of dependable service. This fan is ready to display and enjoy immediately! There is an oscillating knob (on the top of the motor housing), which engages/disengages the oscillating mechanism, so the fan can be operated stationary or oscillating. The fan is a three speed model (low, medium, high) and runs and oscillates smoothly on each distinct speed. The fan features a metal base and motor housing with micarta blades. The fan features it’s original paint, which is in a wonderful state of preservation, and should clean up very well. The cloth cord from the motor to the base is original and fraying. There is a spot on the cage that looks to have been welded (difficult to notice) and a cage wire that needs to be rewelded to the back ring (see pic). Please see the many pictures for a visual inspection of the fan. The fan has 16 diameter blades. The fan stands approximately 21.5″ high, is 17.5″ wide and 11 deep. The build quality of the fan is impressive heavy! And represents a bygone era of American manufacturing. This is a fan you can use and enjoy for years to come — a definite conversation starter! Fresh from an estate and a small collection of fans is a wonderfully restored vintage oscillating fan that dates from the 1920s, and was manufactured by the Diehl Manufacturing Company of Elizabeth, New Jersey. The fan is completely restored, with shiny new paint, new cloth cord (which is period appropriate), and new felt on the bottom of the fan to ensure surfaces on which it sites are not marred. All operating parts were cleaned and oiled. Suffice to say, the fan looks as good as the day it was manufactured roughly 100 years ago, and is ready for many more decades of dependable service! The metal blades are painted a gold/brass color and measure 16 in diameter. The fan’s width is 17″ and it stands 21″ tall. The base, motor housing, cage and struts are all made of either cast iron or steel and very heavy. The build quality of the fan is incredible — you simply don’t find this level of quality today. There is a small screw below the oscillating wheel that engages the oscillating mechanism and can adjust the oscillating arc (short or long arc). The fan features a distinctive “Diehl” logo in the center badge of the cage. In addition to operating on a desk or table (flat surface), the fan was also designed to for operation on a wall — it can be mounted to a wall or vertical surface via screw holes in the base, and tilted appropriately. The fan is a three speed model and runs and oscillates beautifully on three distinct speeds, and puts out an impressive breeze. This is an absolutely gorgeous vintage fan that is ready for immediate use and a guaranteed conversation starter — and helps beat the heat of summer! In addition to the practical use of providing air movement, the fan could be used as wonderful and stylish accent item in a range of settings vintage home, beach house, office, second home, etc. As it conveys the 1920s. Fresh from an estate and a small collection of fans is a wonderful brass blade vintage oscillating fan that dates from the 1920s, and was manufactured by the General Electric company. The fan is known as a loop-handle oscillator, given the distinctive handle and oscillating mechanism. The fan is estate fresh, and has only been gently wiped clean, with several drops of lubricating oil applied to the two oil cups. The fan appears is an excellent cosmetic condition given it is nearly 100 years old. The brass accoutrements — blades, screws, oscillating bell, oscillating knob — are all polished and shine nicely. The blades shine like a mirror! The old wiring from the base to the plug was replaced with new, and there is some minor paint loss around the bottom edge of the fan. The fan is ready for many more decades of dependable service. The blades are solid brass and measure 12 in diameter. The fan’s width is 13″ and it stands 16 1/2″ in tall. The base, motor housing, cage, struts, are all made of steel — the fan is extremely solid. The solid brass oscillating knob on top of the oscillating housing (which protrudes from the back of the motor) engages/disengages the oscillating mechanism. The fan features GE’s popular “S-wire” guard, with wires on the front of the guard in an “S” shape. The fan also features GE’s iconic logo in the center button. In addition to operating on a desk or table (flat surface), the fan was also designed to for operation on a wall — it can easily be mounted to a wall for vertical surface via screw holes in the base, and tilted appropriately.
