Extremely Rare ECK Hurricane Oscillating Fan. Marked Pat 1915 on the blades. Blades also marked MING. Cast iron and appears complete. Blades and motor spin freely. Unable to test because cord is not viable. It will need to be rewired. 23 inches tall, 16 inches wide and weighs a little over 30 lbs. These fans rarely come up for sale in this condition. A great find for the collector!

This very rare Fan was just found in a 60 + year Collection of Antiques! It is a Water Powered Fan mounted on it’s original weathered Board. It appears complete, Blades turn easily and I see no damage or repairs! It is embossed L. It must be a rare example as I found nothing on a Internet search? Note the solder counterweight on several Fan Blades! It measures 20″ tall, 18 1/2″ wide and 9 1/2 deep. These Fans are seldom seen and Collector’s love them. The fan for sale here was named the Whirlwind after the engine on the Spirit of St. An image of the Whirlwind engine design is shown in the photos. This fan was modeled after the engine and propeller of the Spirit of St. Knight was very involved with designing. Knight was the patent holder of many aspects of the Spirit of St. Louis airplane design and he was a pioneer in the manufacture of propeller type fans. Another one of his propeller fan design patents from 1931 (a ceiling mount fan in the form of an airplane) is shown in the photos. The “Whirlwind” fan has not been tested due to the fragility of its wiring. A little history on Harry H. After Charles Lindbergh first proposed his transatlantic flight.
