All 3 speeds work great! Fan is very quiet (no issue with the bearings). Can be used immediately or restored. Power cord has been replaced with a 7′ cord. Flexible cord from the base to the motor is the original with the original slack and in great shape (no dry rot). Vertical aim angle is adjustable. Beautiful fully functional unit, but does have minor cosmetic wear, scuffs.

Era: Produced in the 1910s-1920s, part of Emerson’s highly collectible line of brass-bladed desk and table fans. 12-inch brass blades with a unique scalloped “Parker” design, characteristic of Emerson fans. Cast iron base and motor housing painted black. Brass cage with Emerson badge at center. Heavy-duty construction with exposed motor. Two-conductor cloth power cord (later replaced with vinyl cord visible in your example). Condition (as seen in photos). Brass blades and cage show tarnish and patina from age. Base and motor housing paint shows wear and some scratches. Original Emerson badge intact and legible. Condition Description: VG – very good condition still working. Looks like cord connecting cage to base original and other cord a replacement. Good working shape, including oscillating, ready to use for desk or room fan.

Old Emerson Northwind Fan Type 450. The tag on the fan cage reads: “Type 450 Northwind” “110 volts alternating or direct F” “Made in United States of America”. The fan runs and oscillates on all three speeds. I do not know how old this fan is, but it shows wear and tear. The fan motor, base, and cage have some rust and paint loss — see photos. The blades are not brass, but appear to be painted steel. The blades have some staining on them. The cage has likely been bent some during its life. The cord appears to have been replaced at some point. This fan may be a good candidate for restoration or just to enjoy in its current worn condition.
