Original Cage 1900’s GEC 12 Electric Fan. First of all the original caged are very hard to get these days. Here we have the complete original version. But they obviously are the preferred choice of many because they radiate so much more character than the more modern 1950’s Versions. So what have we done with this very rare Original Caged and propellers. It had lots of rust on this but we have treated this and got this back to a glowing shine – Days of work here. This also has the original antique fan propellers. All these fans where Art Nouveau Inspired I mean take a look at the back housing of the fan and how much character that this reflects. All these fans have there faults and eccentricities. This one has a break in the cage and is missing a screw for the connector arm. I have wired this so the cage remains firm – The brsss grease cartridge is also loose easily replaced. This is a very powerful fan however it is like most of these noisy as opposed to silent. The fan works best in an upright level position and all 3 speeds will work in this position. The logos on both the front and the back are clear and legible. This one has the NEW original twisted electric cable from Base the motor which is always very nice. Notice the bakelite connections to the fan – Most unusual. We have bought a few for restoration of E bay that were real killers when received – There are no laws against private sellers in this country. Minor chips to the paint work on this which could be touched up very cheaply and is not as bad as most some of which are unsightly. As you can see from the pictures this is very negligible – Not worth destroying its originality over. Bit of a tough old boot is this one – Should last very many years to come.
