Another item from Country Artifacts, Great Northern Liquidation, Springfield, Vermont. 16 Antique 1919 WESTINGHOUSE 164851G Oscillating Fan, 3 Speed 4 Brass Blades. Research indicates this fan was made starting in 1919. I also found it listed in a 1923 Westinghouse catalog. 20-1/2″ high x 17″ wide x 10 deep overall. Black finished ferrous metal parts with solid brass blades. Cast iron base and motor parts, steel cage. The fan came with a severed cord as shown. I connected to the fan and found that the motor hummed. I spun the blades and the fan powered up to full power and ran fine on all three speeds. The fan also oscillated nicely, with a bit of a vertical tipping function (up slightly in one direction, and down slightly in the other direction). The motor still needed help to start when I retested from off (on any speed including high), so in addition to needing a new cord, this is an issue that you may want to address. The finish is better the higher up on the fan you go as shown. The blades also need to be polished, so a restoration would be good for this fan. Unpacked weight & size: 20.3, 21x17x10. Packed weight & size: 30, 24x21x14. Package Notes & Ref: 8C137, OS1 (37#), C35. In many cases you may not even need to return it.
